Virus Protection

ACS Windows PC users should scan all files received via the Internet or removable media PRIOR to installation/copying.

Virus protection software is relatively inexpensive and for those PC's used by JHU faculty and staff, software can be downloaded from http://www.jhu.edu/anti-virus/

To protect your machines from infection, you should take the following precautions:

  1. Obtain anti-virus software
  2. Keep antivirus software (virus definition files) up-to-date
  3. Routinely scan hard drive
  4. Set options to scan floppy disks on access
  5. Set options to scan Internet downloads and emails
  6. Routinely backup critical data.

Prevention is the ultimate goal.
