ACS System Management is responsible for backups of essential system data.
An increasing number of user workstation disks with home directories are now protected from hardware failure using RAID 1 mirroring. The operating system keeps two copies of all data on two separate disks. In the case where one disk fails we should have a complete backup copy. This does not provide any backup in the case of accidental file deletion or catastrophic system failure (such as extreme power spikes, water damage, etc.)
Users are responsible for backing up all the data that they own. This includes but is not limited to:
/home/[user])/data*/[hostname])
