How do I setup OS X to use the department printers?

  1. Identify the queue name and model of the nearest printer.
  2. Download the latest drivers for this printer model: (Xerox Phaser 760GX)
  3. Install Driver.

    For Xerox printers:

    1. Double Click on the file (a Disk Image will appear and the Finder should open).
    2. Drag the Phaser_7760_Installer_enu icon onto the Desktop
    3. Double click on the "7760_OSX_Installer".
    4. Click the Continue button (three times)
    5. Agree to license agreement
    6. Authenticate as administrator (if necessary)
    7. Click the Install button
    8. Click the Close button
  4. Install the printer queue

    1. Start the "Printer Setup Utility" (Macintosh HD-->Applications-->Utilities-->Printer Setup Utility)
    2. Click "Add" button
    3. Click on the IP Printer Icon
                o Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
                o Address: ccprint.pha.jhu.edu
                o Queue: secondlp (for example)
                o Name: secondlp (for example)
                o Print Using: Xerox Phaser 7760GX
                
    4. Click the Add button
    5. At the "Installable Options", click the Continue button
    6. Click the "Make Default" icon if you desire

Printing Duplex within Mac OS X


When printing, select "Layout" and set the Two Sided Printing option to "Long-Edge Binding"

You might have to enable Duplex Printing in System Preferences (see the example below).





To Enable Duplex Printing on OS X


In System Preferences, select the "Print and Fax" preference.


Click on "Set Up Printers..."


Click on "secondlp" to select that printer to work with, then click the "Show Info" button in the top right-hand corner of the window.


Click where it says, "Name and Location" and change that to "Installable Options".


Click "Duplex Unit" to select it, then click "Apply Changes" before closing the window.
